My Temple May Have Expanded But It Is Still My Temple Dammit

Recently Shell from Things I Can’t Say and Tina from Life Without Pink have encouraged women to determine their correct bra size and see how big a difference it can make.  They recommended the sizing chart from 123underwear to determine size.  I used the guide and was very surprised by the result.  So I went out to find some bras because I was too skeptical to order online.  I had the store clerk measure too with slightly different results.
After trying on a few sizes, what do you know, the size from 123underwear was correct.

And wowza what a difference!

My girls were all perky and huge.  One benefit of my expanded body.

It really got me thinking.  I’ve been in this limbo hoping that the weight I’ve gained will disappear with the minimal healthy diet changes and non-existent exercise plan I have employed.  I spend every day in stretchy waistbands and t-shirts, refusing to buy new clothes because deep down I didn’t want to admit my size.

But what I realized is that just because I have gotten bigger doesn’t mean I have to look like a complete slob.  I could embrace my size and find some nice things to wear.  I borrowed some clothes a while back from a friend who has gotten smaller while I have gotten bigger.  She had tons more style than I do so the clothes are a welcome addition to my wardrobe.  So I will start wearing them more and feeling better about how I look.

At least that is the plan.  It’s hard for me to feel good at this size but I’m hoping that if I put a little effort into my appearance, I will start to get there.  This doesn’t mean I will give up on trying to lose weight and be healthier.  But hiding behind unflattering apparel just isn’t helping anything.  It isn’t providing motivation nor magic.

It is simply denial.

And living in denial just will not do anymore.
